ASUS Malaysia today announces the latest addition to Vivobook lineup: the new Vivobook 16 (M1605) with updated AMD-powered internals. This 16-inch laptop shares the footprint as a traditional 15.6-inch laptop thanks to its taller 16:10 display aspect ratio (which offers 86.5% screen-to-body ratio, the company claims).

For the local models, ASUS offers two colors and two configurations for each: the first being AMD Ryzen 7 7730U (Zen 3, 8C/16T) paired with 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB PCIe 3.0 SSD, while the second configuration retains all the remaining parts, changing the CPU down to the six-core AMD Ryzen 5 7530U (Zen 3, 6C/12T) with 8GB of DDR4 RAM onboard.

On the connectivity side of things, the laptop now comes with Wi-Fi 6E, as well as a USB-C port which now supports USB Power Delivery standard. Aside from that, there’s three USB-A ports (2x 3.2 Gen 1 + 1x 2.0), a HDMI 1.4 output and headphone jack. Battery is 42Wh –  The 16-inch model also comes with full-size keyboard with numpad available for those who lives by it. (Excel users rejoice!)

Two colors will be offered – Indie Black and Cool Silver. In terms of pricing: the entry-level Ryzen 5 7530U + 8GB will cost RM2,599; whereas the Ryzen 7 7730U + 16GB configuration is priced at RM2,999.

Pokdepinion: I personally would go for 16GB as that offers much better performance for the money.
